A.T. (Alfred Tennyson) Beals (1870-1955) was an amateur bryologist and a professional photographer. He donated his herbarium of 2000 speciments to the New York Botanical Garden. He was born in Greenfield, Mass. and moved to New York City. His first wife was Jessie Tarbox Beals, the first female photojournalist.
